MILLARD TRANSPARENCY
"I have decided (after some soul-searching) to give a piece of Dick's work to be auctioned for the Whitney Scholarship.
It's a beautiful transparency design sketch for a religious window with five figures including Christ, Buddha and Kateri Tekakwitha. It is signed and dated 1993. The actual transparency is about 12" diameter. It is soundly matted into black card with a 2-fold cover that also acts as a stand. Closed, the matte/board measures 14.5 x 16in. Besides being a wonderful memento of Dick it is exquisitely executed and a beautiful art object in itself.
I think this piece could mean an awful lot to somebody. There are many folk out there who are indebted to Dick and I'm sure would really like to own a piece of his work. It's also a lovely way to keep his legacy going and to support the teaching of stained glass.
As for me, it'll be a wrench to let it go, but I do have several other things that Dick has given me over the years, including one of his panels, so his memory is fresh and alive in our house."
