2014 Auction Announced

Dear Friend/Colleague,
I want to tell you how excited I am about our upcoming 9th Annual American Glass Guild Conference, "Glasstopia", to be held at Bryn Athyn College in suburban Philadelphia! This beautiful academic campus is adjacent to the Bryn Athyn Historic District which includes Bryn Athyn Cathedral, Glencairn Museum and Cairnwood Mansion.  And our conference will coincide with a special Landmarks in Lights celebration there in June.  I’m happy to be serving as Auction Chair once again, and I’m writing today to ask for your generous support.
Each year at the AGG Conference, the Auction has been one of the highlights of our annual gathering.  In fact, it is our organization’s primary source of fundraising.  Without your support and the support of manufacturers and suppliers who serve the stained glass community, we could not fulfill our mission. We aim to support those working in our field by providing a wide range of educational and informative experiences, including those offered at our annual Conference.

The American Glass Guild Auction is the sole source of support for the James C. Whitney Scholarship Fund, which has awarded 84 scholarships thus far to worthy recipients, many of whom have traveled nationally and internationally, honing their skills and knowledge.
Past auctions have consistently featured more than 100 items for sale:
•    Unique, handcrafted and signed works of art glass and other original artwork
•    Historical publications and valuable, sometimes collectible, books on the art and craft
of stained glass, art and architecture
•    Materials such as hand-blown glass, opalescent art glass, bevels, roundels
•    Tools and supplies, such as specialty brushes, vitreous paints, and metals
•    Services and gift certificates for specialty workshops and instructional opportunities
both here in the US and abroad.
This year at Glasstopia, the Silent Auction tables will open on Friday, June 27 and close on Saturday the 28th during our awards dinner. The evening will conclude with a spirited Live Auction, which we hope will include specialty items as well as your donated art panels.  The Live Auction is open to the Public.
Because of your generosity and support, last summer’s Auction raised nearly $18,000.Won’t you please consider donating your artwork, goods or services to the AGG Auction this year?  Your support has and will continue to help subsidize our educational efforts and scholarships awards.

  1. Thanks, Ken, for posting this on my behalf! I'm excited to report that I've already received several responses to our plea for donations! I'll be reporting here and on our AGG Facebook page as donations come in.
