As we gear up for another wonderful conference, to be held June 18-21 in and around our nation’s capital, I would like to introduce myself as Chair of the 2015 American Glass Guild Auction. I’m writing today to ask for your generous support.
The Auction has been a much-anticipated highlight of the Conference each year. The support that you and our partners provide through this event allows us to serve the stained glass community and fulfill our mission to cultivate novices and facilitate experienced artists and craftspeople to attain a higher level of expertise. We strive to support and encourage those who have made glass their lives, offering many educational and formative experiences, including those offered at our annual conference.

The James C. Whitney Scholarship Fund, which has awarded more than 95 scholarships, derives all of its funding from the American Glass Guild Auction. These funds provide opportunities for scholarship recipients to travel nationally and internationally, to explore and refine their skills. With your support, we can continue to aid many of those who request financial assistance.
Past auctions have featured more than one hundred items up for bid, including:
- Unique, handcrafted and signed works of art glass and other original artwork
- Historical publications and valuable, sometimes collectible, books on the art and craft of stained glass, art and architecture
- Materials such as hand-blown glass, opalescent art glass, bevels, roundels
- Tools and supplies, such as specialty brushes, vitreous paints, and metals
- Services and gift certificates for specialty workshops and instructional opportunities both here in the US and abroad.
At this year’s conference, the Silent Auction tables will open on Thursday, June 18th and will close during our awards dinner on Friday. The Live Auction will be the pinnacle of the evening, where your generous donations will be a part of the festivities.
Last year, because of your generosity and support, the American Glass Guild Auction raised over $22,000! We ask you to help us again make this year’s auction as much of a success; please consider donating your artwork, goods, or services to the 2015 AGG Auction. It’s because of people like you that makes it possible to move our art form forward through our Scholarship Fund.
